What is a game jam?
A game jam is an event where people come together to create video games in a short amount of time, usually a few days or up to a week. The goal is to make a complete game from start to finish, often based on a specific theme or idea. It's a fun, creative challenge where participants can work alone or in teams, and it helps people learn new skills, experiment with game development, and share their work with others. It's kind of like a hackathon, but for making games!
Every 3 to 4 weeks, we'll be hosting a game jam where students can make a mini-game to help them prepare for the hackathons. The games will be shown on a YouTube stream to showcase everyone's hard work.
We will have four different categories that students can enter their work into:
You can enter only one game category per jam, but you can submit art and websites as much as you like. Submissions will be in the Code LI Dark community, and winning entries will be featured on the website.
Students need to join the Code LI: Dark Mode community with an active school student account and use their personal email address and not their real name.
All Game Jam Streams follow the day after the submission deadline.
